Christian Youth Theater Baton Rouge will let ‘Mary Poppins’ fly this week at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Christian Youth Theater Baton Rouge is putting on its spring production, “Mary Poppins.” Five performances run from May 23–26 at LSU’s Shaver Theater with evening and matinee shows. Click here for more information and tickets.

“Mary Poppins is this — is a nanny that the Banks family really needs. They need some help. They’re struggling and so Mary Poppins comes in to save the day,” said Tonja Rainey, CYT artistic director.

Actor Nic Elliott plays Bert in the play and said, “There’s a few scenes that just — that just mean a lot. You know, they’re just really — they’re different. Like, they’re deep. It’s like aw, that’s so good. That’s so good, but I can’t give it away. You have to come see it.”

Rainey said it’s a magical production.

Some shows have already sold out, and limited seating is available. Act fast for seats, she said.
