Christian Siriano's Boyfriend Rocks Sheer Lace Gown for Improvised Fitting After Model Fails to Show Up

Kyle Smith stepped in for the glamorous role to prevent Siriano from running into a major fashion dilemma

Christian Siriano was nearly left without a model for one of his fittings, but thankfully his partner, Kyle Smith, was there to save the day.

When the Project Runway alum, 38, was faced with the predicament in Paris, Smith, designer of N.Y.C.-based clothing line Future Lovers of Tomorrow, quickly stepped in to help in any way. In this situation, that meant wearing one of Siriano’s gowns.

Siriano shared photos from the impromptu fitting on Instagram.

Smith poses like a pro in a lace design sheer enough to reveal a pair of black briefs underneath. The dress also features sculptural, off-the-shoulder sleeves, which accentuated Smith’s toned biceps.

“When the model doesn’t show up in Paris you improvise!” Siriano captioned the post shared on Wednesday. Tagging Smith, the designer added, “Looking chic in Lace. Très chic!”

Smith, who Siriano called his “muse,” jokingly commented, “When the model calls out sick.”

This isn't the first time Smith has pulled off a high-fashion moment. Last summer, he shared a photo of him wearing a voluptuous ruffled skirt while living his best life in Lake Como, Italy.

Siriano has been booked and busy this month hopping from one Fashion Capital to another. Before flying to Paris, he threw a star-studded show during New York Fashion Week on Feb. 8.

This season’s front row attendees included Ashlee Simpson Ross, Sophia Bush, Melanie Lynskey and Siriano's close friend, Alicia Silverstone.

During the designer’s spring/summer presentation 2024 in September, the Reptile star spoke to PEOPLE about what makes Siriano so special.

"When I first started wearing his clothes, it just made me feel very much like a woman, like a sophisticated but still sexy woman," she shared.

"He seems to really understand our bodies so well. I think that's really what he did for me," revealed the actress, who wore Siriano’s reimagined version of her plaid Clueless suit for a 2023 Super Bowl commercial. "Every time he does it so beautifully."

Silverstone recalled "one of the most fun" memories she has of Siriano, specifically bringing up the getting-ready process when they're on vacations together. "He'll just pull out some insane garment and put it on me, and it takes him about five minutes," she said.
