Christian Bale reportedly in talks for Thor: Love and Thunder role

The Dark Knight might soon cross paths with the Lord of Thunder.

Christian Bale is in talks to star in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder in an undisclosed role, according to multiple reports. If Bale officially signs on, he would be one of the rare actors to move from the DC universe to Marvel, after starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

Collider first reported Bale’s potential involvement. Marvel had no comment.

Chris Hemsworth is confirmed to once again return as the golden-haired Asgardian god, along with Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. (Portman’s Jane will also be picking up the hammer as Thor this time.) Waititi is also returning after Thor: Ragnarok, and in addition to writing and directing, he’ll also once again voice the peace-minded rock alien Korg.

Waititi previously told EW that he’s finished the initial drafts of Love and Thunder, and it’s expected to shoot later this year for a release date of Nov. 5, 2021.
