Chrissy Teigen Says Award Shows Aren't As Much Fun As Everyone Thinks

Award season is quickly coming up; we're already starting to hear about nominations. With their red carpets and stars dressed to the nine in elegant attire, award shows look like splendid, glamorous events that we could only dream of attending (unless you land a gig as a seat filler). But during a recent Twitter Q&A, Chrissy Teigen spilled the beans on what it's really like to attend these numerous award ceremonies. According to Teigen, they are definitely not as fun as they look.

Teigen recently answered several questions from Twitter followers regarding her life as a celebrity. These questions ranged from asking about safety and privacy to airline travel to going out to restaurants. However, one question, in particular, stood out regarding how boring are award shows in real life.

Teigen responded via tweet:"unbelievably boring and you are pulled in 100 different directions and yelled at to sit down. the bar is never close to you and everyone is so mean to seat fillers, I dunno why anyone wants to do it."

They Can Be So Boring You Fall Asleep

Since Teigen is married to singer John Legend, she has to attend many award shows. It's fair enough to say that they probably start to all seem very similar after a while. Teigen was so bored and exhausted at the 2017 Oscars that she fell asleep. A few times, the camera caught her nodding off on her husband's shoulder. Lucky for Teigen, Warren Beaty messing up the announcement of Best Picture (announcing 'La La Land' instead of 'Moonlight') took the attention off her power napping.

There's Usually No Food

As Teigen mentioned, not only is the bar far away at these award shows but often there isn't any food, either (or very limited supplies). The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where the Oscars are usually held, [doesn't allow food or drinks at all (https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/bmbgpm/why-everyone-at-the-oscars-is-always-so-damn-hungry) inside the theater.

Last year, Melissa McCarthy managed to smuggle thirty ham sandwiches into the Golden Globes.

It can't be any fun sitting around for hours in fancy dress, listening to droning speeches and getting hangrier by the minute.

But John Legend Isn't The Only One Who Receives Awards

Teigen's husband, John Legend, is an Emmy, Tony, Oscar, and Grammy winner, so she ends up at a lot of award shows. But award shows aren't always all about her husband. Teigen herself has been recognized for her charity work. This past November, Teigen received the Giving Tree Award at the Baby2Baby Gala. Upon getting home from the award ceremony, Teigen jokingly shoved aside one of John Legend's Grammy awards to make room for hers (see video below).

Sounds only fair to us.
