“Initially I did say no,” admits Golden Globe nominated actress Chrissy Metz while discussing her participation as Poodle Moth on the FOX reality TV series “The Masked Singer.” “I didn’t think I could do it. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m the girl for the job.’ Also, I run hot, especially in my face. How am I going to have a mask on and sing in the way that I’m supposed to sound good? It took some convincing. Ultimately, I realized it was really fun, challenging and liberating.” Watch her exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior editor Denton Davidson above.

Metz was unmasked as Poodle Moth on Wednesday night’s quarter-finals episode of Season 11. She went home in fourth place as Clock, Goldfish and Gumball advanced to next week’s semi-finals. Panelist Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg was the only one who guessed her identity. Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora thought the actress was Shania Twain, Melissa McCarthy or Faith Hill, respectively.

“Those guesses are very flattering,” she says. “Especially because I’m fans of all of them.” Metz, who is a a recording artist herself, reveals her biggest vocal influences as a child were Whitney Houston and Linda Ronstadt. “I was very inspired by them. They were incredible. Of course there were so many women in between, but if I had to choose two it would be them.”

Metz will soon be seen in the upcoming STARZ drama “The Hunting Wives” alongside Malin Akerman, Brittany Snow and Dermot Mulroney. “The cast of characters are complicated women,” she reveals. “It’s juicy. I feel like this is going to be a show where people are going to call each other and be like, ‘Did you see that? What did she do?’ It’s a little scandalous.”
