Chris Pratt's Daredevil Stunt Double Tony McFarr Dead at 47

Tony McFarr, a professional stuntman who's responsible for some of Chris Pratt's more thrilling moments in films like Jurassic World, Passengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, among other projects, has passed away. He was just 47.

McFarr's mother, Donna, shared the unfortunate news with TMZ on Thursday, May 16, revealing that the daredevil double died at home in the Orlando area on Monday, May 13.

A cause of death has not been determined, but Donna did confirm that his passing was unexpected, reporting her son to have been active and healthy prior to his loss.

The Orange County Medical Examiner's office is currently investigating, with toxicology reports pending results.

McFarr had only been working in the industry for over a decade, debuting in an episode of Bones in 2011. His work could also be seen in the television series Homeland and Teen Wolf, as well as other Marvel films and franchises like The Hunger Games and Divergent.

He also tried his hand at acting a few times, appearing in shows like Macgyver, Burn Notice, and One Tree Hill.

Pratt, who befriended the stuntman as they worked together over the years, hasn't addressed his passing yet, but shouted him out on social media. "Love you buddy!" he wrote as the cast and crew wrapped on Guardians 2. "Happy wrap!

According to TMZ, McFarr had transitioned to working in the restaurant industry more recently, opening multiple storefronts in Florida.

He is survived by his daughter, sister, and parents, all of whom plan to gather in the coming weeks to celebrate his life. He's set to be buried in Pennsylvania, near his grandmother.
