It's-a me, Star Lord.

Prepare for Chris Pratt just like you've heard him before: but this time, his voice is coming out of a Monday-hating feline.

That's right, the first trailer for The Garfield Movie — debuting Pratt's take on lasagna's favorite cat — has arrived and he sounds exactly like, well, Chris Pratt. Following up his role as the titular world-saving plumber in the box office hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Pratt will return to screens in May 2024 as another beloved animated figure with the voice of Andy Dwyer. But instead of tackling goombas and dragon turtles, he'll be demolishing trays of pasta.

The trailer begins with a lonely Jon Arbuckle feeding a hungry orange kitten — which Garfield will later describe as the moment that he adopted Jon. Later, sitting before a lasagna-filled table, the lovable fat cat warns the audience to shield their eyes: "I apologize in advance. The eating you're about to see will not be pretty," says Pratt's Garfield. "And if you have young children, this would be a good time for them to leave the room."

From there, the film becomes a father-son adventure with none other than fellow Marvel alum Samuel L. Jackson voicing Garfield's dad. Joined by their canine friend Odie, the duo embark on a high stakes heist — and make sure to fill their stomachs along the way.

This Garfield movie is the latest addition to the franchise, which previously featured Bill Murray as the titular cat in 2004's Garfield: The Movie and its 2006 sequel Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. The films were followed by several direct-to-video movies and animated series, including The Garfield Show.

The Garfield Movie comes from Emperor's New Groove director Mark Dindal, with a script penned by Finding Nemo's David Reynolds. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Cecily Strong.

The Garfield Movie will arrive in theaters May 24, 2024.
