Looks like Chris Noth can check off “fathering a mini-me” from his parenting to-do list, as it seems his 8½-year-old son Orion Christopher has inherited his dad’s sense of humor.

“My son makes me laugh every day. He’s got a little of my goofball in him. He still loves poop jokes,” the actor, well-known for his role as Mr. Big on Sex and the City during its entire six-season run, tells PEOPLE.

“He’ll text me poop emojis and then sign, ‘Daddy, it’s Orion,’ and I’m like, ‘I know!’ ” adds Noth, 61, who has been married to longtime love Tara Wilson since 2012. “Boys never get over that.”

Noth — who’s currently starring in White Girl, in theaters now — is a big fan of family time, and tells PEOPLE that his last vacation was extremely special to him.

“I went with my family to Crete. It was the best vacation I’ve ever had. It was for a week while I was in-between filming Tyrant,” he says, referencing his new show on FX. “I rented a car and we went all the way from one end of the island to another. The ruins are incredible, and the food is so pure and clean.”

“We went swimming in the Aegean Sea. It was bliss,” he adds. “My son and I like to look for stones in the water. I don’t have a stamp collection; I have a stone collection!”

It’s not all peaceful tranquility 24/7 for Noth and his family, though — in fact, the actor’s last injury wasn’t set-related, but family-related.

“The other day I was throwing my kid around on the bed and I pulled a muscle in my back,” Noth says.

“He loves to be thrown around, but he’s not as light as he used to be! I lifted him up, threw him on the bed and then it’s like, ‘Wait a minute, he’s 60 lbs.’ My back is going, ‘Not so fast, partner!’ ” he adds. “I’ve got to stay young for him. He’s a good inspiration to go to the gym.”
