Chris Lane Hints at Potential Wedding with Girlfriend Lauren Bushnell: 'Whatever She Wants, I'm Down'

They may not be engaged (yet), but Chris Lane is already talking about what it would look like to marry girlfriend Lauren Bushnell.

“I think she wants a smaller wedding,” the “I Don’t Know About You” singer, 34, told PEOPLE at the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet on Sunday in Las Vegas. “So once we get to that point, whatever she wants, I’m down for.”

The Bachelor alum, 29, recently moved from L.A. into an apartment with Lane in Nashville, and Lane admitted that he was a little nervous at first about their decision to live together.

“I’m a really clean person, so I thought to myself ‘All right, is this a good idea? Because if she’s not, this could be a deal breaker,’ ” Lane said. “The verdict is: She’s actually even more clean than I am, and she’s a great cook. So we make a great team. She cooks, I clean.”

After Bushnell showed off their new home together on Instagram, Lane told PEOPLE exclusively that ending their long-distance relationship has strengthened their relationship.

“It’s been such an easy transition and she makes each day even better,” Lane said. “There is nothing like waking up next to the person I love, going about my day — working out and working on music — and then coming back home to her! I’m a lucky guy.”

Bushnell and Lane confirmed their relationship in November after they appeared together at the 66th annual BMI Music Awards in Nashville.

“It’s brand new and they are enjoying spending time together,” a rep for Lane told PEOPLE at the time.

However, they quickly realized how much they cared about each other, as Lane told PEOPLE in December that Bushnell was heading back to his home town of Kernersville, North Carolina, to meet his parents, and his song “Take Back Home Girl” was starting to resemble his real life.

“When I released that song, I did not realize I would end up meeting somebody that I cared so much about,” he said. “I’ve been so career-focused and career-driven that I haven’t put a whole lot of time into trying to find a relationship. It just hasn’t been my mindset.”

However, Lane said that his parents constantly “talk so much junk” to him, asking him when he’s going to bring someone into his life that could potentially be their daughter-in-law.

“I’m just like, ‘When it happens it happens,’ ” Lane said.

“[Lauren] and I have been hanging out not even that long but realized we both like each other,” he said.

The two were “friends for literally several years and just kept in touch here and there,” Lane explained, but then “she went with me to the Bahamas on a random trip.”

“We had no idea we were going to end up liking each other and it spawned into what it is now,” he said.

The 54th Academy of Country Music Awards are broadcasting live from Las Vegas on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS.
