Chris Hemsworth Explains Why Working with Wife Elsa Pataky on “Furiosa” Was 'Like Date Night for Us’ (Exclusive)

"I love spending time with her....especially in a creative space," Hemsworth said of his wife

Chis Hemsworth sometimes uses work as an excuse to spend quality time with his wife Elsa Pataky!

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the U.K. premiere of their upcoming movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in London on Friday, May 17, the Avengers star, 40, explains why he loves working on sets with his partner of over two decades.

"It's just like date night for us," the father of three says. "You know, we got three kids and we have to go to work to get away from them and then they follow us."

Hemsworth says it means "everything" to him when they got to act together.

"I love it. I love spending time with her...especially in a creative space," he adds.

The Snow White & the Huntsman star explains why even if they're working, spending time acting together is important for their relationship and family as a whole.

"You get sort of parent roles and, you know, you desperately try and find moments with the two of you on a film set. I'll take it, I'll take what I can," he admits.

Hemsworth plays Dr. Dementus, the leader of the Biker Horde in the latest Mad Max film, while Pataky plays the Vulvalini General.

The couple are parents to their daughter India Rose, 12, as well as twin sons Sasha and Tristan, 10.

Pataky also starred alongside her husband in the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder as a Wolf Woman.

Hemsworth opened up about the effect parenting can have on a marriage in a 2023 interview with GQ.

"It feels like we got to know each other halfway through our relationship, five, six years ago. In a beautiful way," he said. "Once our kids were out of nappies, things became a bit more manageable."

The Australian actor also praised his wife for the "sacrifice, commitment, work, support [and] forgiveness" she's shown him throughout their relationship.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga hits theaters on May 24.
