Chris Evans is back on Instagram, and he’s brought some adorable four-legged friends with him.

After a six-month hiatus, The Avengers star, 42, posted a video at New York City-based animal shelter Animal Haven spotlighting the many pets waiting to be adopted at the care center.

“Hi everyone! I’m back :),” Evans wrote alongside his Reel. “I’m thankful for a LOT of things this year, but dogs are always high on the list.”

“There are literally thousands of dogs waiting to be adopted all across the country,” the Ghosted actor explained in the video. “Just like my dog, Dodger.”

With the help of dog food brand Jinx, Evans treated pups to some snacks and announced an exciting initiative. “Any of the dogs that we met today that get adopted, Jinx is gonna donate a year’s worth of dog food,” said Evans, who is an investor and spokesperson for the company.

The Reel clipped together some especially precious moments of 2022 PEOPLE'S Sexiest Man Alive hanging out with furry friends on the shelter’s floor. He also introduced Animal Haven’s executive director, Tiffany, who highlighted the group’s mission to give their dogs “the best experience they can possibly have.”

In his caption, Evans confirmed that homes were already opening their doors to some pups in need: “So glad to hear that these dogs got adopted, and that we were able to set them up with a year’s worth of @thinkjinx food and treats,” he wrote, finishing with a holiday wish, “Happy thanksgiving everyone!”

The known dog dad is hardly shy about his love for the canine kind, especially when it comes to his own companion Dodger. Evans famously found his best friend while filming his 2017 flick Gifted, when they were shooting a scene in a dog kennel. He recounted their meet-cute to PEOPLE just before the film’s premiere.

“I foolishly walked in and I thought, ‘Are these actor dogs or are these real up-for-adoption dogs?’ And sure enough they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there,” The Gray Man star remembered.

He continued, “I snagged him and he’s such a good dog. They aged him at about 1, he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.”

Recently, Evans and Dodger welcomed a new member to their family when the Boston native married Portuguese actress Alba Baptista, 26, this past September. Speaking at New York Comic Con 2023, Evans gushed a bit about their two “wonderful and beautiful” wedding ceremonies, which took place in Portugal and in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

“It’s a lot planning a wedding. For those of you who are married, you know it takes a lot out of you,” Evans said during the October event. “But now that we're through that, we've just been enjoying life, gearing up for autumn, my favorite season. Now we're just relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting.”
