Chris Evans pledges to send Captain America shield to brave dog attack boy
Captain America star Chris Evans has sent a message of support to a young boy who saved his sister from a dog attack hailing him as ‘a hero’. The actor pledged to send him ‘an authentic Captain America shield’ for his incredible efforts.
Six-year-old Bridger has received many well-wishes from the world of entertainment after his aunt shared his amazing story on her Instagram account. “On July 9th, my six year old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog,” Nikki Walker wrote on the social networking site.
“After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He later said, ‘If someone had to die, I thought it should be me’.”
Bridger had 90 stitches in his face from where the dog mauled him, but he’s now at home recovering from his injuries.
Walker shared a video of Bridger watching Evans’ pre-recorded video message wearing a Captain America costume saying ‘we are so, so thankful’.
"Keep being the man you are, we need people like you," Evans says in the video, coordinated by Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com. "Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I've seen, I don't think there's much that can slow you down."

She tagged a number of Marvel actors in the original post including Evans, Spider-Man star Tom Holland, and Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr, to let them know “about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo sent Bridger a message of support praising him as "more of man than many, many I have seen or known."
Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson also sent Bridger a message of support.
