‘The Chosen: Season 4’ to Debut First in Theaters Beginning in Early February

It’s official: the new season of the hit Biblical streaming series The Chosen, about the life and ministry of Jesus, will first play exclusively in theaters.

The theatrical rollout of The Chosen: Season 4 begins Feb. 1, 2024, with a two-week run of episodes 1-3, followed Feb. 15 by episodes 4-6 and Feb. 29 by episodes 7-8. Fathom Events is handling distribution duties in the U.S. and Canada. A consortium of distributors will bring the episodes to the big screen in Latin America, the U.K., Poland, Australia and New Zealand.

Following its theatrical run, season four of The Chosen will debut across streaming platforms, including The Chosen TV, mobile apps, broadcast and cable TV. Lionsgate is the show’s global television distributor.

Last season, the first and final episodes of The Chosen played in theaters via Fathom.

“Every time we’ve dipped our toes in the theatrical waters, viewers have overwhelmingly told us they want more. After seeing the Season 4 episodes, we knew we’d be doing our fans a disservice if we denied them the chance to see them all on a big screen with others they can laugh and cry with,” Dallas Jenkins, creator, director and producer of The Chosen, said in a statement.

Added Fathom CEO Ray Nutt, “We are thrilled to collaborate again with The Chosen team to bring fans the entire fourth season to cinemas before it is available elsewhere.”

The finalized theatrical plan were announced Sunday night in Dallas at The Chosen Insiders Conference. Attendees were treated to a teaser-trailer of the new season, which was granted a SAG-AFTRA waiver amid the ongoing actors’ strike.

Previous seasons of The Chosen — which began its life as a crowd-funded streaming project — have done well across numerous platforms, including Prime Video, Peacock and Netflix. It has also been a ratings-driver on the The CW.
