'Chopped Junior' Champ Shows How to Serve Up Fantastic Frog Legs

13-year-old Chopped Junior winner Tavia Isaac of Chester, Pennsylvania jumped at the chance to return to compete with other past winners for $25,000 and the title of Grand Champion. Since Tavia won Chopped Junior she has appeared on Good Day Philadelphia and has been on a Navy cooking ship. When host Ted Allen presented the ingredients for the appetizer round, Tavia was fortunate in that she had brought her frog leg cooking skills with her. The ingredients included mâche, snack mix, watermelon agua fresca, and frog legs. Using skills her mother had taught her, she soaked the frog legs in buttermilk in order to get rid of the fish smell saying that the vinegar in buttermilk "removes that icky smell." Tavia used the snack mix in order to create a breading for the frog legs, rolling them in buttermilk, flour and snack mix. The judge's loved her frog leg dish but they also loved her dessert despite Tavia cooking her caramel for too long.
