The 2024 Urban One Honors, which prides itself as the premier “celebration of Black Excellence,” truly stuck to its theme of being “Best In Black.”

At the lavish affair, filmed in Atlanta, Chlöe, Dionne Warwick, Donald Lawrence, and Frankie Beverly were all recognized for their respective accomplishments, with Warwick as the Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Beverly as this year’s Living Legend, Chlöe as the Generation Next Honoree and Lawrence receiving the Inspirational Impact award. Mary J. Blige was also among this year’s honorees, being the recipient of the Icon Award.

“From soulful ballads to timeless contributions and contemporary brilliance, these iconic artists have not only shaped the musical landscape but have also contributed significantly to the cultural fabric of our society,” Michelle Rice, President of TV One and CLEO TV, gushed in a statement.

Following the taping on Saturday (Jan. 20), Chlöe revealed that she was surprised by Michelle Williams, who presented her with the award. Of the honor, the “Treat Me” singer said she was “immensely grateful” and can’t wait for fans to see the performance. Williams equally gleamed on Instagram, adding, “It was a joy to present @chloebailey with the Generation Next Award at the Urban One Honors! Chloe is undoubtedly talented and gifted! Her resilience and perseverance is so admirable as well. She just LOVVVVVVVVVVVES music…….writing it, producing it, and fiercely performing it!! Chloe, I meant every word I spoke to you last night!! I love you!”

Teyana Taylor, Angie Stone, and October London also performed during the two-hour telecast. Though an R&B Divas reunion between KeKe Wyatt, Chanté Moore, and Nicci Gilbert was said to take place, there are no red carpet photos confirming the reunion. However, Moore and Gilbert, alongside her Brownstone bandmates, were in attendance. The likes of Mona Scott-Young, Misa Hylton, Killer Mike, Trina Braxton, WanMor, Durand Bernarr, and the cast of Good Times all came out to celebrate the beauty of Blackness.

The 2024 Urban One Honors kicked off TV One‘s 20th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout the rest of the year. It airs on Feb. 25 on TV One and CLEO TV.
