When is Chipotle opening in Gardner? Will it be in time for burrito season?

It doesn't look like the new Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant at Timpany Plaza in Gardner will open for burrito season.

What's burrito season? The Chipotle chain restaurant company calls its busiest time of the year "burrito season" because between March and May, as the weather starts to get warmer, it tends to see a spike in sales.

Unfortunately, Greater Gardner residents will still have to travel to Leominster for the nearest Chipotle to get their burrito fix this year when "burrito season" starts.

Chipotle will open after burrito season

The construction for the chain restaurant is planned to break ground in mid-March.

Denbeigh Marchant, vice president of leasing for Wheeler Real Estate, said the developers are completing the last steps to obtain all permits to break ground officially. He said it looks like they will finish construction between mid to late summer.

Developers plan to demolish the vacant Santander Bank building at 360 Timpany Plaza in Gardner and replace it with a new Chipotle restaurant building.

Nearest Chipotle from Gardner

There isn't a Chipotle restaurant in any of the Greater Gardner municipalities. The nearest restaurant is at 252 Mill St. in Leominster, which is an 18-minute drive from Gardner.

The Chipotle in Leominster is open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
