China Lights 2023 opens

China Lights' 2023 edition, "Nature's Glow," opens Sept. 15 in the Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive in Hales Corners. Entry times are at 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m. Tickets on Fridays and Saturdays are $25, $16 for children ages 3 to 11 and free for kids younger than 3; on Sundays and Tuesday through Thursday, they're $22 and $14. Tacos and Tequila Festival

The Tacos and Tequila Festival comes Sept. 16 to Franklin Field at The Rock Sports Complex at Ballpark Commons, 7035 S. Ballpark Drive, Franklin. Organizers say there'll be 100 different street tacos crafted by local chefs, plus margaritas, lucha libre wrestling and a lineup of throwback rappers including Nelly, Fat Joe and more. Last-chance general-admission tickets are $99 (parking passes are $20). Info: tacosandtequilamke.com.

Bay View Bash

The Bay View Bash occupies South Kinnickinnic Avenue between Potter and Clement avenue from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 16. On tap: five stages of music and plenty of food and drink. Admission is free. Info: bayviewbash.org.

UMOS Mexican Independence Day Festival

The UMOS Mexican Independence Day Festival kicks off Sept. 16 with a parade starting at 10 a.m. at South 20th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue, going to Sixth Street and ending at UMOS Center, 2701 S. Chase St. The festival, on the center grounds, serves up food, music, rides and more from noon to 8 p.m. Admission is free. Info: Mexican Independence Parade and Festival Facebook page.

Cedarburg Wine & Harvest Festival

The 49th annual Wine & Harvest Festival takes over downtown Cedarburg 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 16 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 17. Music, local artisans, food, wine (natch) and activities including the Pumpkin Regatta are on the menu. Admission is free. Info: cedarburgfestival.org.

Barktoberfest in Estabrook Park

The Estabrook Park Beer Garden, 4600 N. Estabrook Parkway, hosts Barktoberfest from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 16. On the agenda: a dog talent show, a dog costume contest, an "adoptable dog pet parade" and more. Admission is free. Info: Barktoberfest 2023 Facebook page.

Mother Earth News Fair in West Bend

The Mother Earth News Fair, an event focusing on wellness, sustainable living and economic resiliency, returns to the Washington County Fair Grounds in West Bend Sept. 16-17. Everything from chicken-raising to cheesemaking is in the mix; Dr. Pol of NatGeo’s "The Incredible Dr. Pol," is the fair's headliner. The fair runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 16 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17. Daily passes are $25 and weekend passes are $35; kids 17 and younger get in free. Info: motherearthnewsfair.com.
