Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Blade, The Shining coming to Netflix in October
For many binge-watchers, the month of October is all about one thing: Halloween. Netflix’s new releases are certainly here to help in that regard, as plenty of horror titles are coming to the streaming service next month.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a new Netflix original, will give a darker, more mature tone to Sabrina the Teenage Witch, in a similar way that Riverdale transformed the characters of Archie Comics. Kiernan Shipka stars as the titular young witch, who has to choose between the light side and the dark side as she approaches her pivotal 16th birthday. Her boyfriend, Harvey (Ross Lynch), keeps her engaged in the mortal world of high school, while her aunts Zelda and Hilda (Miranda Otto and Lucy Davis) mentor her in the ways of darkness and witchcraft. That series will hit Netflix Oct. 26, just in time for a pre-Halloween binge.
Some older, time-honored scary movies will also be hitting Netflix in time for All Hallows’ Eve. On top of that, The Shining — Stanley Kubrick’s terrifying adaptation of Stephen King’s famous novel — will also hit Netflix at the beginning of the month.
For those who aren’t as interested in scary stuff, new seasons of classic Netflix originals are also due to arrive this month. On Oct. 19, Daredevil season 3 will reveal how the titular superhero is dealing with the aftermath of The Defenders, while Making a Murderer finally releases its long-awaited second season.
