‘All My Children’ star Susan Lucci says there’s ‘buzz’ about a potential reboot
Yet another classic show could be getting a modern reboot.
“All My Children,” which aired on ABC from 1970 to 2013, is the topic of some revival buzz, according to Susan Lucci, who played Erica Kane on the Emmy Award-winning series.
Lucci said at the Go Red for Women event in New York City that there has been renewed interest in the show of late: “We are hearing a little buzz,” she told Page Six. “It’s just important to be in the right hands. Lorraine Broderick was the head writer and I know that she’s a beautiful writer, so if she was [on board] that would help a lot.”
The actress, who has since gone on to star in films including “Devious Maids” and “Joy,” clarified that while she thinks reality TV shows like “Real Housewives” are “great at entertaining,” a potential “All My Children” reboot would not mirror that genre.

“I don’t think they are the modern-day soaps,” Lucci said. “There’s no storytelling. There’s a lot of editing. It’s, like, they cut to the chase all the time, and I think it’s different.”

Her comments came five years after Bravo producer Andy Cohen compared the Real Housewives franchise to soap operas and after a number of other former soap stars, including Denise Richards of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Eileen Davidson of “The Young & the Restless” and Lisa Rinna of “Days of our Lives” have signed onto the franchise.

In terms of an “All My Children” reboot, this isn’t the first time Lucci has floated the idea. She told Yahoo Entertainment last year that there have been talks to bring the show back, and according to Inquisitr, Lucci has kept in touch with much of the show’s cast and crew.
Other recent reboots include “Will and Grace” and “Full House” spinoff “Fuller House.”
