Is this a marriage made in heaven? Or just wishful thinking from fans?

Netflix announced last month that actor Adam Sandler would reprise his role as a hockey player turned golfer in “Happy Gilmore 2.”

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason, have mentioned numerous times on their New Heights podcast how much they love Sandler’s movies. And Travis Kelce has branched out into acting and will appear in the drama/horror show “Grotesquerie,” which is being shot now.

While on the New Heights podcast earlier this year, legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger said the Kelce brothers were in LA seeking movie deals, and Travis Kelce has been spotted wearing a “Happy Gilmore” cap.

For some, this was confirmation that Travis Kelce would be cast for “Happy Gilmore 2.” Here’s a nice recap of the reasons why fans see Travis Kelce in that movie.

On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce addressed those rumors, and he seemed to leave the door open should he be asked to appear in the film.

“I didn’t even know there was a job opening for ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ but if there is I’ll be a (freaking) extra,” he said. “Anything I can do to get around Happy Gilmore or an Adam Sandler film or set, count me in. Obviously been a huge fan of ‘the Sandman,’ but yes, this is exactly what it says it is: a conspiracy theory.

“Who knows? Theories can come true. theories can be true and just people don’t know about it. So I might even be in the talking (for the film) and nobody knows about it. But I could also not be in the talking so...”

Travis Kelce didn’t exactly shoot down the rumors with that response.

But Jason Kelce said there didn’t seem to be much evidence that would link his brother to the movie.

“Other than the movie is getting made,” Travis Kelce said, “and I’m looking for movie deals.”

The brothers then discussed possible roles Travis Kelce could play in the movie.

“I did just do a game show,” Kelce said, referring to “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?” which he will host. “Maybe play the Bob Barker role?”

Jason Kelce quickly noted that his brother is no Bob Barker and suggested Travis could play Shooter McGavin’s caddie.

“Like I said,” Travis noted, “I’ll do anything in the movie. I’ll be a part of it any way I can.”
