You might have seen Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid on the sidelines on Sunday night, but you also might have seen him during the commercial break.

Reid made his commercial debut on Sunday, joining the iconic Jake from State Farm and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in an advertisement for the insurance company. During the commercial, Coach Reid is seen drawing mustaches on his players while they’re asleep on a plane ride. That includes Mahomes, who comes up to his head coach and exclaims, “It happened again!”

The head coach did a great job with the advertisement and has received plenty of praise for his on-screen performance. How exactly did Reid end up in show business, though? He explained to reporters that it was all thanks to his star quarterback.

“Well, listen, Pat (Mahomes) asked me if I would do it with him,” Reid said. “And I told him, ‘I’m not very good at that stuff.’ Listen it was a fun thing. It was good to see how people treat Pat. It was interesting to see how the production goes because he does a lot of these things. It kind of gave me the inside scoop on it, literally, to see what he has to go through to put all these things together. It was quite interesting, great people involved there. They obviously reached out to me, knowing that I wasn’t real comfortable doing those kinds of things. But they made it as comfortable as possible.”

You wouldn’t be able to tell that Reid was out of his element, but you never know how many takes it took to get things perfect. Overall, he seemed to have quite a bit of fun with the experience. Who knows, maybe he’ll even do more advertisements in the future.
