The Chicks postpone more concerts due to illness, promise 'a show you all deserve'

The Chicks are rescheduling more tour dates due to an unspecified illness, according to a social media post the group shared Tuesday.

"We regret that we must reschedule our show at Merriweather Post Pavilion and cancel our show at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts," reads The Chicks' Instagram post. The show was set for Wednesday, and the new date for the Merriweather Post Pavilion show in Maryland is Sept. 20.

Original tickets will be honored for the new date. Refunds will automatically be processed for Bethel Woods Center for the Arts ticketholders.

This comes on the heels of the country music group's announcements last week that they were rescheduling their shows first in Nashville then also Knoxville, Tennessee, and Greensboro, North Carolina, due to illness.

The new dates for the shows are Aug. 8 for Greensboro, Sept. 21 for Knoxville and Sept. 23 in Nashville.

"We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but our priority is to put on a show you all deserve," The Chicks' July 28 post reads.

The tour interruption started when the Grammy-winning trio − Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer − unexpectedly postponed their Nashville concert hours before it was scheduled to happen show that day.

Canadian folk band Wild Rivers will still serve as the supporting act for those dates, and previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new shows.

According to The Chicks' website, the band is still scheduled to perform in New Hampshire on Saturday. Their performance at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, at the end of September will wrap The Chicks' time in North America; they will head down under to Australia in October.

Close call" The Chicks almost called themselves 'MEN,' 'Puss 'n Boots'

In June 2020, the band formerly known as the Dixie Chicks rebranded themselves because of the name's affiliation with the Civil War-era South in an effort "to meet this moment."

That month, they released a new song, "March March," whose video included historical and contemporary protest footage, including the Black Lives Matter movement. The following month, they released their eighth studio album — their first in 14 years — "Gaslighter."
