Hank Voight's (Jason Beghe) team is under attack. In Chicago P.D.'s latest episode, a crucial drug bust went awry and the hour quite literally ended with a bang as a truck exploded and left Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) unconscious and Anna (Carmela Zumbado) in danger.

"It just continues," Patrick Flueger, who stars as Adam Ruzek, warns of the upcoming finale. "We're off to the races and it's not going to let up until those credits role on [episode] 22." LaRoyce Hawkins, who stars as Kevin Atwater, adds, "And even then it's not really letting up."

At the center of the chaos is Voight, who has a reputation for bending the law when someone he cares about — like Anna — is involved. "You haven't seen this side of the man in a while, if ever," Flueger tells EW. "He feels very fatherly and very protective of Anna, so he's not in complete control in the way that you're used to seeing Voight."

For Voight, it's not just about the present situation, but also everything he's been through the past nine seasons. "We're watching a guy that has had to bury his son, has had to bury his best friend, has had to bury his wife," Hawkins says. "We're watching the culmination of a lot of these moments with this Anna situation."

As for how Kevin feels about Voight's less-than-lawful side, Hawkins says: "I understand when lines have to be crossed sometimes. I also understand that certain lines can't continue to be crossed forever. I've seen Voight's growth, especially when it comes to certain situations, when it comes to the physicality of his approach, and now I'm watching a very mental and spiritual breakdown that I have to support. Win, lose, or draw, Voight is still somebody that I admire and respect. And I'm looking forward to unpacking more reasons why Atwater still admires and respects Voight."

As for how the episode will end and if it will deliver a classic finale cliffhanger, Flueger says, "Good luck with the anticipation and lack of sleep over the summer." So we'll take that as a yes.

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
