The comedian sustained a bruised knee after he slipped off the stage on Wednesday.

Hallelujah! Holy s---! Where’s the Tylenol?” is likely what Chevy Chase was thinking after he stumbled off the stage at a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation event on Wednesday.

In video footage shared by TMZ, the actor is seen in a wheelchair on stage at Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, N.Y. for a Q&A conversation after a screening of the beloved 1989 holiday film. He then stands up and walks toward the opposite side of the stage to wave hello before seemingly stumbling and disappearing off camera as the audience lets out a collective gasp.

Chase was then helped back up onstage by his wife, Jayni, as well as the interviewer. Once they had taken their seats, the comedian took a moment to poke fun at his literal slip-up. “Wait, wait my watch is talking to me,” he says, raising his smartwatch closer to his face. “It says, ‘I see you’ve taken a great fall.’”

As the audience began to laugh, Chase’ wife can be seen tinkering with the gadget because, as she notes, “otherwise, they might send an ambulance.” She then places a hand over her face as she too, starts laughing.

According to TMZ, who cited sources close to Chase, the Saturday Night Live alum fell because he was unable to see where the stage ended due to its bright lights. They noted that Chase was fine and only sustained a bruised knee from the incident.

Widely considered to be a holiday classic, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is the third installment in the film series and sees Chase reprise his role as Clark Griswold as he attempts to throw the perfect holiday for his family that soon goes wildly off the rails. The film, which spawned a 2003 sequel, also stars Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Juliette Lewis, Johnny Galecki, and more.
