Chet Hanks Gives an Update on His Parents' Health — And It's the Reassurance We Need

Last night, the news broke that beloved actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson had tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in Australia. While both actors have confirmed that they’re in stable condition, many of us are still feeling shaky as relentless coronavirus updates spam our timelines. But don’t worry: Hanks and Wilson’s son Chet is here to assuage your fears.
Chet took to Instagram and shared a quick video thanking fans for their concern and reassuring us all that his parents are doing just fine. “What’s up everyone. Yeah, it’s true, my parents got coronavirus, crazy,” the 29-year-old actor said to fans. “They’re both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there. But I just got off the phone with them and they both are fine.”

“They’re not even that sick, they’re not worried about it,” Chet continued. “They’re not tripping, but they’re going through the necessary health precautions, obviously. But I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about. I appreciate everyone’s concern and the well wishes, but I think it’s all gonna be alright. I appreciate it and just, everybody, stay safe out there. Much love.”
Hanks’ 42-year-old son Colin also shared an update on his parents’ health on social media, writing: “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone. My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances. Despite the fact that I’m in LA and haven’t seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery.”

Thank God that Hanks and Wilson seem to be doing well, and thank God we have this outlet into their family. I don’t know about you, but I’m finding Chet Hanks’ voice a very soothing narrator to get through these times. Can he give us all our coronavirus updates, please?
