Dancing with the Stars Pro Cheryl Burke Says Her Head Is 'Fine' After Fall During Rehearsal

Will Cheryl Burke soon be saying goodbye to the ballroom?

On Monday's episode of Barstool Sports' Chicks in the Office podcast, the longtime Dancing with the Stars pro — who is still in the running for the Mirrorball Trophy alongside partner AJ McLean this season — hinted that she might be ready to check out of the competition in the near future.

"My hips don't lie, and I'm starting to get tendonitis. For a woman, as far as ballroom dancing competitively goes, normally in their 30s [they retire]," said Burke when asked how long she saw herself doing the show for, after first joining DWTS in 2006 and participating in 22 seasons since. "I'm 36, so it's like, 'Okay, time to hang up those shoes.' "

The star also said with a laugh that she doesn't "want to be that oldie that's like, 'Oh, here comes Cheryl doing the same choreography, just going slow, but in her head, she thinks she's going that fast.' I also don't want to, I guess, be a dancer and have my partner having to be, like, 'Can't lift.' ... There's a time and a place for it all."

But the dancing pro then added that she'd "love" to join the judges' panel! "It would be really great for me just to use my mouth and not my body," Burke said. "I mean, four judges? It's fine! Just give us each five seconds."

Burke's appearance on the podcast came one week after she suffered an injury on Oct. 25 during rehearsals with McLean, 42, when she lost her footing. The incident caused her to fall and slam her head against the ballroom floor.

But she appeared to make a speedy recovery, going on to perform the tango the following night with the Backstreet Boys member to the Psycho theme song. McLean dressed in a costume inspired by Norman Bates as part of the show's Villians Night on Oct. 26.

Afterward, judge Carrie Ann Inaba asked Burke how she was feeling, and the professional dancer confirmed that she was doing "okay."

"I'm actually doing okay," Burke then told host Tyra Banks. "You know, you go in and out a little bit. I think I hurt my rotator cuff actually more than my neck, but I'm hard-headed, thank god, so we're good, we're good."

Burke tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, actor Matthew Lawrence, in May of last year at the Fairmont Grand del Mar in San Diego, PEOPLE confirmed exclusively at the time.

The couple’s “I dos” capped off a relationship that began nearly 13 years previous, when they met during the 2006 DWTS season during which Matt's brother Joey Lawrence competed. "There was an attraction right away," Burke told PEOPLE. "But we were both really young."

After their nuptials, the couple was looking forward to a romantic honeymoon — and eventually, expanding their family.

"I want to have kids," said Burke. "[When we got back together] it was like, 'Let's not waste any time. Time's a tickin'!' "
