Cher's Romance With A.E. Edwards Is Still Going Strong Despite Criticism About Their 40-Year Age Gap

Cher and her boyfriend, A.E. Edwards took their love to the most romantic city in the world for Paris Fashion Week. The lovebirds let everyone know that their romance is still going strong, and they aren’t letting any criticism about their almost 40-year age gap get to them.
The dynamic duo has been spotted at their last few events in twinning fashions, and the Balmain show on Wednesday was no exception. They cozied up in the front row at the show wearing matching dark-wash jeans, black shirts, black blazers. (Cher’s ensemble had a little extra sparkle on the lapels — as it should for a queen like her!) The 77-year-old pop star wore her hair in soft waves that gently framed her face, and she accessorized her outfit with a big smile on her face. Cher looks so happy with her 38-year-old boyfriend, and it’s very sweet to see.

Cher originally met Edwards at Paris Fashion Week in October 2022 and they were first linked together a month later. By December of that year, the “Believe” singer was already wearing a huge diamond ring on her finger, which insiders claimed was not an engagement ring. “AE and Cher are not engaged but he wanted to show Cher how much he cares about her and thought the ring was absolutely beautiful,” a source told Hollywood Life. “He thinks she deserves the world and wanted to give her a token from his heart.”
Cher’s sons, Chaz Bono, 54, and Elijah Blue Allman, 47, were reportedly side-eyeing their mom’s boyfriend because they were concerned about Edwards’ intentions with their mom. They want to make sure she isn’t being used for her music connections or her healthy bank account. “For her kids, Chaz and Elijah Blue, and some of her friends, this is a train wreck that can only end in total disaster,” said the insider told Radar Online last year. “They’re gently trying to sway Cher to give AE up, but she won’t hear of it. She’s walking on air and won’t listen to anyone.”
They had a brief split in Spring 2023, only to reunite, stronger than ever. Describing her boyfriend as “a beautiful man” to People, Cher addressed the age-gap situation and why she’s ignoring it. “I love being with him,” she gushed. “He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”
