Many women been called the Queen of Christmas over the years, from Mrs. Claus to Mariah Carey to Candace Cameron Bure. As of Thursday, a new challenger is throwing her pointy red hat into the ring. Enter… Cher.

The music icon closed out the 97th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with a special performance of “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” much to the delight of Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, who spent most of NBC’s three-hour broadcast geeking out in advance of her appearance.

(It was also a delight for rapper Flavor Flav, who was spotted cheering her on from the sidelines. Who knew!)

“DJ Play a Christmas Song” is the debut single off Cher’s first-ever Christmas album titled, what else, Christmas. The 13-track project includes collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Darlene Love, Michael Bublé, Tyga and Cyndi Lauper.

Released on Oct. 20, the album marked Cher’s first collection of original music since releasing Closer to the Truth exactly one decade ago. (While not technically “original,” Cher’s 2018 ABBA cover album Dancing Queen is also worth your time, if you haven’t already experienced it.)
