Cher opened for Santa Claus at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The icon performed “DJ Play a Christmas Song” at the 97th annual turkey day tradition, officially ringing in the yuletide season to close out the parade.

Last month, the icon released her first-ever holiday album. Christmas featured duets with Darlene Love, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé and Tyga. She billed this as “not your mother’s Christmas album” in the lead-up to the release. Christmas is Cher’s 27th album and first since 2018’s Dancing Queen, a collection of ABBA covers inspired by her cameo in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. It debuted at Number Three on the Billboard Albums Chart.

In 2018, The Cher Show also opened on Broadway. The biographical musical told Cher’s life story through performances from three different actresses portraying Cher at different points in her life. It closed on Broadway the following year, but a touring production of it opened in the US this month.

Releasing a Christmas album was a promise Cher made around the time Cher opened her Broadway musical and dropped Dancing Queen. She also teased a second album of ABBA covers, a memoir and a biopic. No word on an updated timeline for these projects from the legend yet.
