According to court documents that have been circulating through various news outlets, it is alleged that Allman was forcefully taken from a hotel room in New York City last year. The details surrounding this incident remain shrouded in mystery, but it is believed that Elijah was subsequently taken to a treatment facility. In the court documents, King alleges that one of the four men told her that Cher was the one who had hired them to take Allman away.

The news of Cher’s supposed involvement in her son’s abduction has ignited a flurry of questions and concerns. However, a close friend of the superstar has stepped forward to shed some light on the matter and Cher’s alleged kidnapping of her adult son.

“Cher is an amazing mother, in all the years I’ve known her, I’ve only seen her be the best, most amazing, giving mother,” a close friend of the Grammy winner told Page Six. The friend insisted to the publication that anything Cher did was out of love for her son and was meant to save him. At the time, he and King were living in their Beverly Hills home without electricity, according to another source.

“Cher’s kids are the important things in her heart … I’ve no doubt that whatever she has done for Elijah has been with the greatest and best intentions possible,” the source said before noting that “It’s obviously hard to be the child of an icon.”

Cher has two children. She welcomed son Chaz Salvatore Bono, 54, with her first husband Sonny Bono back in 1969. Elijah Blue Allman, 47 was her second child, whom she shares with ex-husband Gregg Allman. Elijah Blue has had a long and challenging battle with addiction.

“Elijah is such a lovely, lovely guy,” the source noted of Cher’s second-born. “He’s got his mom’s amazing sense of humor and he’s a really talented musician. I’m sure he has his demons — we all do — but it’s such a shame to hear all of this as he had been doing so well.”

He first opened up about his struggles in 2014, revealing that he started using drugs at the age of 11 and eventually turned to heroin as a way to escape from his troubles.

“I [was] just looking to escape all the things in my past and, that’s when you turn to those kind of drugs, you know heroin and opiates,” Allman said. “[Heroin] kind of saved me. If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done,” he explained to Entertainment Tonight in 2014. At the time he had been sober since 2008.
