The reality star officially filed for divorce from her husband on Wednesday, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, per documents obtained by PEOPLE.

After meeting in 2015, the couple tied the knot in a Newport Beach, Calif. wedding ceremony two years later in 2017. They share two children together — Maddox Ali Lavon, 5, and Melia Iman, 3.

According to the documents, the mom of two filed for joint custody of their kids and is requesting spousal support from Jeff.

Months before their 2017 wedding in a since-deleted Instagram post, Chelsea revealed it was Jeff who convinced her not to leave the United States to go back to her native London.

“Almost 2 years ago I came to Los Angeles for what was meant to be a 'short break'. I stayed because I fell in love...It was the best decision I've ever made 💑,” she wrote in the caption.

It was also Jeff who introduced her to Jason Oppenheim — founder of the Oppenheim Group agency around which Selling Sunset is centered — which ultimately led to her securing a spot as a full-time cast member on the docusoap in season 5.

She was already an established real estate agent before joining the show and quickly proved how valuable she’d be to the O Group by bringing Oppenheim an offer over the asking price for one of their listed properties.

During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in March 2022, Chelsea opened up about how her husband’s support played an important role in her joining the Netflix series.

"I think having the support of my husband and my family really essentially prepared me to take on this big role and this big opportunity," Chelsea told PEOPLE at the time. "But for me personally, I saw this as an opportunity to really open doors in an industry that has lacked diversity and where minorities are underrated."
