Louisiana Food Prize's Come and Get It! Dining Experience was held Friday evening, Oct. 1, 2021.

It's that time of year in Shreveport where kids are going back to school, summer is winding down and the Louisiana Prize Foundation begins its preparations for the big Prize Fest event in October.

Over the next couple of weeks the announcements for who made it into the finals for each category of Prize Fest will be taking place. Keep checking back here to see who will go on to compete in the 2022 Food, Comedy, Fashion, Music and Film Prizes.

Food Prize

First up is the Food Prize that pits talented Shreveport chefs against each other in order to win the coveted Golden Fork award.

For months elaborate dinners have been hosted for the Golden Fork Society members for the chosen chefs to show off their culinary skills. Every week each chef presents a multi-course dinner and are judged and scored by the society members.

Now it's time to find out the seven chefs who have made it to the final round and will go on to compete at the Come and Get It food and wine experience at Prize Fest in October.

  • Eleazar Mondragon - Ki' Mexico

  • Megan Chavez - Prepped Up Meals

  • Sean Sullivan - Frank's Louisiana Kitchen

  • John Strand - Accents Personal Chef Service

  • Anthony Felan - Fat Calf Brasserie

  • Ryan Gillespie - Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning

"We will be pairing each of those local chefs with one of our visiting celebrity chefs and the two chefs will collaborate to create an incredible team and we saw some incredible dishes last year," said Prize Fest Associate Director Melissa Brannan. "They'll create a dish that is served to attendees as well as a panel of judges this year."

In addition to the revealing of the finalists Prize Foundation Founder and Executive Director Gregory Kallenberg and Brannan announced new additions to Food Prize this year.

First there will be the Golden Spork competition where local food trucks will be battling it out next door to Music Prize for the public's vote.

Then there will be the first-ever Food Prize University where the community will have a collective conversation about the food culture here with chefs and judges from the Food Prize.

Lastly there will be a People's Choice Award for the fan-favorite chef at Food Prize to go along with the Golden Shaker Award for the the fan-favorite cocktail of the night.
