Check Out Richard Linklater's 'Everybody Wants Some' Clip and See Why Baseball Is Very, Very Good (Exclusive)

Richard Linklater has called Everybody Wants Some a “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 cult classic Dazed and Confused, and critics at the SXSW Film Festival agreed it’s a worthy successor. Like Dazed, Everybody (which jumps from a 1970s Texas high school to a 1980s Texas college) features a likable cast of unknowns, an infectious soundtrack, and all kinds of intoxicants.

One difference, though, is how the films handle sports. A central storyline in Dazed followed the high school quarterback’s (Jason London) eventual defection from the team after the coach insisted the players sign a drug-free pledge.

Loosely based on Linklater’s own experiences, Everybody Wants Some follows a team of college baseball players. And as you can see from the exclusive clip above, they’re much more in it to win it. Now they just have to start by beating Arizona.

Everybody Wants Some opens in select theaters on Friday.
