Come Thanksgiving week, most people will be preparing to fix their special dinners or will have already booked a reservation at a nice restaurant.

Daytona Turkey Trot

“Start your Thanksgiving morning in beautiful Daytona Beach on the beach and burn some calories before you feast,” organizers promise.

The 5K (3.1-mile) course on the beach begins at the LandShark Bar & Grill (471 S. Atlantic Ave.) at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.

Registration is $35 for adults and $25 for those under 18. The 50-100-meter “Kids Trot” (for those under 10) is free but also requires registration.

Registration and pre-registration on race day opens at 7 a.m.

All runners will receive a custom finisher medal and T-shirt. Even though T-shirts “are guaranteed for all pre-registered participants before Nov. 14, shirt sizes are not guaranteed on race day,” according to organizers.
