Sometimes there is nothing better than curling up on the couch and settling in for an addictive TV series. Or maybe you’d prefer an easier watch, like a two-hour movie that you can quickly digest and move on to the next. But what if you are looking for something in between the two? That's where the genius of a Netflix miniseries comes in.

From award-winners to highly anticipated drops, Netflix miniseries are the perfect watch. Over the past few years, these limited programs have become increasingly popular as our attention spans grow shorter.

Quick-to-watch, these shows keep audiences engaged for the 6, 10 or 12 episodes they offer, rather than go on for eight seasons just to keep viewers hooked (although Netflix is very good at that too!)

If you’re looking for a quick and easy watch, but love to get invested in the drama, check out these 7 Netflix miniseries that will keep you hooked for, well, at least a full day.

Based on the 2009 novel and 2011 film, One Day fits the classic friends-to-lovers trope, allowing Emma and Dexter to slowly explore their feelings over a period of 20 years. The two deal with the realities of life, a long-distance friendship and falling in and out of sync with each other, while ultimately harboring secret feelings

Woodall shared about how he felt making a series based on a movie, based on a book. “I think if we were remaking the movie I might feel some pressure,” he explained, “but we knew that we were telling it in a new way.”

2. Maid (2021)

Maid follows the life of single mother Alex (Margaret Qualley) as she escapes an abusive relationship and tries hard to make ends meet for her young daughter, Maddy. Dealing with their potential homelessness and her mother's undiagnosed bipolar disorder, Alex faces the harsh realities of living on her own and working hard as a maid.

Adapted from the memoir of Stephanie Land, the 10-episode series was nominated for three Primetime Emmys and three Golden Globe awards. Check out this miniseries if you’re looking for an uplifting watch.

Qualley shared how she got involved with the show and how reading the memoir secured her decision. “I read the script, and I was just really taken aback by it … I hadn’t read [the memoir], and this was the final cherry on top of, like, ‘You gotta read this book.’ And then I flew through it. It’s painful but propelling. And it just was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

3. Beef (2023): Netflix miniseries

This multiple-Emmy award winning series swept up at every award show this year. Snagging dozens of honors, Beef follows two people in a prolonged feud after a road rage incident. Danny (Steven Yeun) and Amy (Ali Wong) get so invested in getting each other back, that their vendetta begins to affect everything and everyone around them.

Called “A thrilling dark comedy that explores the complexity of anger,” by the New York Times, Beef has been a hit since its release. Check out this Netflix miniseries the next time you’re looking to watch a drama mixed with hilarious comedy.

4. Inventing Anna (2022)

This crime drama explores the true story of Anna Delvey, a con artist who posed as a wealthy heiress and New York socialite. Another masterpiece from Shonda Rhimes, Inventing Anna follows an investigative journalist researching the case of Anna. Meanwhile, audiences get to dive into Anna's world as a supposed “rising socialite” in the New York City art world.

Starring Julia Garner as Anna Delvey, the show was nominated for three Primetime Emmy’s. Despite viewers learning how the con artist stole money from people — like the $62,000 she conned Rachel Williams out of — the series seemingly sympathizes with Delvey.

Beyond that accent and some of the missteps the series may have taken (like the “disclaimer” in each episode), Inventing Anna is a thrilling watch and will keep you invested for each of its 9 episodes.
