Taylor Swift kicked off her European leg of the “Eras Tour” this past weekend with four shows in Paris. The concert underwent some significant changes compared to earlier shows in the United States, South America, Asia and other sites.

New to the setlist was “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift’s newest album. Six songs, including fan-favorites “The Archer “ and “Long Live,” were cut to make room, and the order of the eras was changed.

She also debuted new outfits and dance routines, which contained references to the Kansas City Chiefs and her boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce.

The tour does not come back to Kansas City, so fans in town won’t get to see the newest additions in person unless they decide to travel to one of the many shows in Europe or North America in the fall.

If a Swiftie wanted to travel overseas from Kansas City to watch another show, how much would that cost? Is that a better deal than staying on this side of the pond? Here’s what the numbers say.

The price of traveling for Taylor

For a test case, we picked the Aug. 17 show at Wembley Stadium in London.

Kansas City International Airport does not have flights to London, so you would need a connecting flight in a different city, like Charlotte, North Carolina.

A flight booked through American Airlines leaves Kansas City and heads to Charlotte at 4:24 p.m. Aug. 15. It would get you to Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 7:45 p.m., where you would then have a 35-minute layover before boarding for an eight-hour overnight flight to London Heathrow Airport.

The flight out of London leaves at 9:15 a.m. GMT Aug. 19, taking you back to Charlotte on a nine-hour flight. After a three-hour layover, your flight back to Kansas City gets in at 5:38 p.m. CST.

The cost? A total of $852 if you are not checking a bag. It costs $150 extra each way to bring a checked bag on the flight.

Only resale tickets are available for Swift’s shows, but Europe has tighter restrictions on ticket fees and resales, so you will not pay as much for a single ticket compared to the United States. The lowest price for one ticket is $705 on VividSeats, $797 on StubHub and $526 on Viagogo as of Tuesday.

You are looking at spending around $1,600 on travel and a ticket alone for the Eras Tour in Europe.

Is it cheaper to go a Taylor Swift show in the United States?

It would cost significantly less to travel to one of Swift’s remaining United States shows, like her Oct. 19 show in Miami, than it would for a show in Europe, but the show itself is even more expensive.

The cost of a flight is much cheaper since Kansas City does have nonstop flights to the Miami area. A roundtrip nonstop flight that leaves at 6:51 p.m. Oct. 18 and returns Oct. 21 booked through Spirit Airlines costs $178. The flight takes you to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, which is only 22 minutes away from Hard Rock Stadium, the site of her show.

Or you could use American Airlines and get a roundtrip nonstop flight that takes you to Miami International Airport at 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 18 and returns Oct. 21, costing $359.

The prices for tickets for Swift’s show on Oct. 19 are between four and eight times greater than the flight costs, depending on which airline and ticket vendor you use. One ticket costs $2,343 on VividSeats, $2,336 on SeatGeek and $1,477 on Viagogo as of Tuesday.

It could cost as low as $1,655 to see Taylor Swift in the United States.
