Chart Moves: Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj, Shakira Hit Hot 100; Becky G Tops Latin Rhythm Airplay; ‘Idol’ Champ Caleb Johnson Rocks On

As previously reported, Iggy Azalea rises 2-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX, and lifts 2-1 as a guest on Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” thus becoming the first act since the Beatles in 1964 to rank at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously with two debut hits. Plus, Nico & Vinz (“Am I Wrong”) and Jason Derulo (“Wiggle,” featuring Snoop Dogg) reach the top 10 and Michael Jackson’s classic “Billie Jean” re-enters at No. 14, revived by a viral video, while the late King of Pop also bows at No. 45 with “Slave to the Rhythm.” Who else makes moves on Billboard song charts this week?

— Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood: On Billboard’s airplay/sales/streaming-based Hot Country Songs chart, which Luke Bryan’s “Play It Again” leads for a seventh week, Lambert and Underwood notch the highest debut in nearly a year-and-a-half, as “Somethin’ Bad” begins at No. 5. It’s the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot 100 at No. 39. “Bad” enters Country Digital Songs at No. 1, becoming Lambert’s first leader on the list (and Underwood’s third), with 107,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, following the pair’s performance of it on the Billboard Music Awards (May 18).

— Nicki Minaj: She debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 47 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at No. 13 with “Pills N Potions.” The song, from her upcoming “The Pink Print” album, opens with 84,000 downloads sold. Domestic streams of the song reached 709,000 in the chart’s tracking week, according to Nielsen BDS, with 97 percent of clicks stemming from an official pseudo-video on Minaj’s Vevo on YouTube channel. On Hot Rap Songs, “Pills” pops on at No. 5.

— Justin Moore: He scores his sixth Hot Country Songs top 10, as “Lettin’ the Night Roll” rises 12-9. He last reached the region with the No. 10-peaking “Point at You” in September. “Small Town USA” became Moore’s first top 10, and No. 1, in 2009. He’s also reigned with 2011’s “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.” On the Hot 100, “Roll” rocks 64-55.

— Christina Grimmie: The third-place finisher on the sixth season of NBC’s “The Voice” returns a classic to the Hot 100, as her cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” debuts at No. 74 (with 72,000 sold). It’s the sixth version of the song to chart: UB40’s reggae take spent seven weeks at No. 1 in 1993; Elvis Presley’s ballad (with the Jordanaires), which brought the song to mainstream pop audiences, reached No. 2 in 1962; and versions by Corey Hart (No. 24, 1987), Al Martino (No. 51, 1970) and Andy Williams (No. 88, 1970) have also hit the Hot 100.

— Shakira: As she debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 95, she shakes her way to her first top 10 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Dare (La La La)” (14-8). Hailing from both Shakira’s self-titled album and “The  2014 FIFA World Cup Official Album: One Love, One Rhythm,” “Dare” gains following the May 22 arrival of its official video. The anthemic dance track re-enters Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs at No. 4 (2 million, up 258 percent, with 82 percent from Vevo on YouTube).

“Dare” also debuts on Dance Club Songs (No. 46), powered by remixes from Chuckie and Chus & Ceballos.

— Becky G: The 17-year-old singer/rapper climbs to No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay with “Can’t Get Enough” (featuring Pitbull), marking her first Billboard format chart-topper. The song, which boasts both an English and Spanish version, also grants Pitbull his fifth No. 1 on the chart. The coronation additionally scores the track’s producer, Dr. Luke, his first No. 1 on any Latin ranking. Becky G has been a protégé of Dr. Luke since he signed her to his Kemosabe Records imprint in 2011. “Enough” enters Hot Latin Songs as the Hot Shot Debut at No. 10. On Latin Airplay, it leaps 21-2, climbing to 10.7 million audience impressions, a 90 percent surge.

— Jerrod Niemann: Speaking of Pitbull … After reaching No. 4 on Hot Country Songs in April and last ranking on the May 17 chart, Jerrod Niemann’s “Drink to That All Night” re-enters at No. 17. A sales surge spurs the return of the track, which now sports a remix featuring Mr. 305. Of the song’s 28,000 sold in the chart’s tracking week (a 37 percent gain), 51 percent are of the original version and 49 percent the remix.

— Duke Dumont: The British DJ/producer earns his second Dance Club Songs No. 1 in as many tries with “I Got U” (2-1). The follow-up to “Need U (100%)” (featuring A*M*E), which led the Aug. 24, 2013, list and was nominated for a Grammy Award (best dance recording), “Got” features vocalist Jax Jones, as well as a sample of Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love.”

Dumont’s creation rises to the top with help from remixes by MK, Tensnake, W&W, Bondax and Manny Lehman, among others.

— Robin Thicke: On Hot R&B Songs, Thicke debuts at No. 18 with his newest single “Get Her Back,” which he premiered during a performance on the Billboard Music Awards. The track sold 30,000 downloads in its first week. It also debuts at No. 36 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No. 18 on Adult R&B, where it claims the Greatest Gainer tag.

— The Proclaimers: “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” debuts at No. 15 on Hot Rock Songs thanks to its inclusion in a viral proposal video in which Jack Hyer lip-syncs to the song over a period of four years and in 26 different countries. (“Decided I wanted to marry my girlfriend after [our] first date,” he notes on YouTube.) The song, which peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 in 1993, zooms onto Rock Streaming Songs at No. 12 with 1.7 million U.S. streams in the week ending May 25, a massive 893 percent spike, according to Nielsen BDS.

— Caleb Johnson: After winning the 13th season of Fox’s “American Idol” last week (May 21), Johnson sends his first Interscope single, “As Long as You Love Me,” onto Hot Rock Songs at No. 41. The song, which bows at No. 26 on Rock Digital Songs with 10,000 sold, was written by Justin Hawkins of the Darkness (and, thus, is not a Backstreet Boys or Justin Bieber cover).
