Chart Moves: Jonas Brothers Return To Hot 100; Little Wings Fly to New U.S. Heights; Anna Kendrick’s ‘Pitch Perfect’ Song Wins Over Radio

As previously reported, Bruno mars’ “When I Was Your Man” (2-1) becomes just the second all-piano-and-vocal ballad to top the Billboard Hot 100, following Adele’s “Someone Like You” in 2011. Who else makes notable moves on the Hot 100 and other song charts this week?
 
— Jonas Brothers: After tallying 16 Hot 100 hits on Hollywood Records in 2007-09, the sibling trio returns on its own label, as “Pom Poms” starts at No. 60. The track starts at No. 23 on Hot Digital Songs (74,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan). The Jonas Brothers Live! Summer tour begins on July 10 in Chicago.
 
— Little Mix: The female foursome, which formed on the 2011 season of U.K. edition of “The X Factor,” crosses to its first Hot 100 hit, as “Wings” debuts at No. 98. The song topped the Official U.K. Singles chart in September. It pushes 30-29 this week in its fourth frame on Mainstream Top 40.
 
— Ariana Grande: The 19-year-old pop newcomer’s “The Way,” featuring Mac Miller, tumbles 10-22 in its second week on the Hot 100, owed largely to its 6-18 descent on Hot Digital Songs (84,000, down 61%). Sales are ahead of its budding airplay, as it jumps aboard Mainstream Top 40 at No. 33 this week (up 146% in airplay, according to Nielsen BDS). It likewise bounds 35-10 on Streaming Songs (3.3 million streams, up 132%, according to BDS), granting it top Streaming Gainer honors on the Hot 100 despite its significant positional drop.
 
— Mumford & Sons: The quartet adds another milestone to its multi-format success, as “I Will Wait” rises 2-1 on Adult Top 40, marking the band’s first leader at the format. The song, at No. 25 in its 35th week on the Hot 100, previously topped Triple A for 11 weeks beginning in September and Alternative the week of Oct. 20, 2012.
 
“Wait” parent album Babel has spent all 28 of its weeks on the Billboard 200 in the top 25, racking sales of 2.2 million since its release. At the 55th Annual Grammy Awards (Feb. 10), the set was crowned album of the year.
 
— Family of the Year: The fellow folk/rock group tops Triple A with its introductory entry, “Hero” (2-1). Billboard spotlighted the quintet as a Bubbling Under act the week of Dec. 1, 2012, when the song debuted on the tally.
 
— Anna Kendrick: As profiled in the March 18 Billboard Top 40 Update newsletter, “Cups (Pitch Perfect’s When I’m Gone)” debuts on Mainstream Top 40 at No. 40 (and bullets at No. 81 in its 15th week on the Hot 100). The song has sold 584,000 downloads. First released on the Pitch Perfect soundtrack (which has sold 636,000 copies), the original almost-all a capella “Cups” has been remixed with instrumentation and rereleased on the More From Pitch Perfect soundtrack, which enters the Soundtracks chart this week at No. 9 (2,000).
