Charlyne Yi alleged on social media that they were “physically assaulted multiple times by an actor, as well as psychologically abused” on the set of Taika Waititi’s upcoming Apple TV+ series Time Bandits, produced by Paramount Television Studios.

Yi also claimed they were “coerced to quit” and “was gaslit by coworkers, producers, and HR.”

“HR said I could leave with ‘integrity,'” Yi said. “This is before they performed an actual investigation, [as] opposed to offering my abuser to leave with integrity.”

In a statement to Deadline about the incident, Paramount TV Studios said, “The safety of our cast and crew is very important to us, and we take all concerns that are raised to us very seriously. At the time of the complaint, Paramount Television Studios conducted a full investigation regarding allegations that were brought to our attention. While all investigations are confidential and we cannot comment on specifics, additional steps were taken to address concerns.”

Yi said they denied workers’ compensation for an alleged back injury and PTSD.

A source close to the show claims the incident and investigation happened over 18 months ago and involved an actor bumping or running into them and picking them up during a scene for the show where the actors were running. The source didn’t deny or address the alleged back injury Yi sustained. However, sources say the studio helped Yi with their workers’ compensation claims, which are handled by a third party, with the actor actively working to receive additional compensation.

Although Yi left the show, sources say they received payment for all guaranteed episodes.
