The day before Easter, Angie Harmon was filling squirrel feeders in her Charlotte home, expecting the elderly woman she’d spoken to on Instacart to place groceries on her doorstep at any moment.

Then she heard a gunshot.

Christopher Anthoney Reid — armed with groceries and a gun — shot her dog in front of her two kids, according to allegations in a civil lawsuit filed by the “Rizzoli & Isles” and “Law & Order” actress Friday in Mecklenburg County Superior Court.

The driver, a “tall and intimidating younger man,” was far from the woman named “Merle” that Harmon thought she had spoken to over the grocery delivery app.

Actress Angie Harmon posted on Instagram Monday a message saying her dog was shot and killed.

The dog, Oliver, had attacked Reid, according to what the driver told police. He “defended himself by firing a single gunshot, striking and mortally wounding the dog,” police said in a statement. “Another dog was present at the residence but did not attack.”

Oliver died later that day — March 30 — at the vet.

Harmon said in an Instagram post at the time that the driver “did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn.”

Reid did not respond to phone calls from The Charlotte Observer.

Harmon filed a lawsuit against both Reid and Instacart’s parent company Maplebear, Inc., and is seeking over $25,000 in damages, though the exact amount would be determined at trial.

In the complaint, Harmon alleges trespassing, negligence, invasion of privacy and emotional distress from both Reid and Maplebear.

“We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident,” Instacart said in a previous statement. “We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform. We have been in direct contact with the customer and are cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.”
