Charlie Sheen’s alleged attacker has reportedly been arrested.

The Two and a Half Men alum’s neighbor was taken into police custody on Wednesday. In a statement shared with PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that deputies responded to "a battery/disturbance call" in Malibu.

"Upon contacting the parties involved, deputies identified Charlie Sheen as a victim of assault," the statement continued, noting that the suspect "was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, force likely to create great bodily injury" and "residential burglary."

TMZ, which first reported the news, indicated that the 47-year-old woman allegedly knocked on Sheen’s door and upon his answer, tried to strangle him. She then allegedly retreated to her own home after the attempted strangulation.

Sheen, 58, reportedly did not require medical attention.

The outlet reported that Sheen told authorities he’d had issues with the woman before, recently claiming she’d sprayed his vehicle with a “sticky” liquid, and dumped trash in his house. However, Sheen also confirmed they’d talked things out — though his communication with the neighbor was before the alleged strangulation.

Earlier this month, Sheen exclusively told PEOPLE he’s been sober for almost six years. "I have a very consistent lifestyle now,” he said. “It's all about single dad stuff, and raising my 14-year-old twin boys Max and Bob."

The real reason he stopped drinking came after he broke a promise to drive one of his daughters he shares with ex-wife Denise Richards to an appointment. "One morning I'd forgotten my daughter had an appointment I'd promised to drive her to, and I'd already had a couple of pops that day," he said.

Sheen had a friend drive instead. “We got her there on time, but it broke my heart because she was in the backseat and I could just tell she was thinking, 'Why isn't dad driving?' So I got home and sat with that for the rest of the day,” he said. “And the next morning I just stopped."
