Charlie Sheen will be celebrating Christmas with his sons.

The actor, 58, tells PEOPLE that he's planning to spend the holiday in a "pretty calm" manner with his 14-year-old twin boys Max and Bob.

"We are not one of those families that plan a ski trip or the tropical thing. We don't have 30 relatives flying in. No, it's pretty calm, pretty traditional, very sane, very comfortable," he says. "It's very comfortable. I feel bad for people that experience so much stress during the holidays."

Sheen shares his sons with ex-wife Brooke Mueller. He is also a dad to daughters Sami, 19, and Lola, 18, both of whom he shares with ex-wife Denise Richards, and 39-year-old Cassandra Jade Estevez, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Paula Speert.

Of his sons, he tells PEOPLE that "they're really cool, really smart, and really funny" and are not fazed by his fame. "It doesn't matter, whatever we're doing that might be important and connected to our job, or some high brow moment of responsibility, the kids don't care," the Two and a Half Men star says.

"The other day I was in the dental chair having a filling replaced, and Max comes up to me and asks me if I have a gift card for a game he wants to buy on his phone," he recalls. "It's like, when has he ever seen me walking around with a gift card? I don't game! I'm not remotely connected to the gaming world, other than trying to manage and supervise their time doing it."

Apart from gaming, he tells PEOPLE that Max plays guitar and Bob won a horror movie directing competition when he was 8, noting that "they're into some cool stuff that isn't just Fortnite."

As for what's to come in the new year, he says he is ready to start acting again after playing himself in two episodes of Chuck Lorre's comedy series Bookie.

"I'm absolutely ready. For the longest time, I had the best work reputation. I was the first to arrive, last to leave, when in doubt I'd over prepare," he says. "I would just check every fricking box. And that went away. So I was really excited about being that guy again."
