Charlie Murphy‘s Final Tweet: ‘Release the Past to Rest as Deeply as Possible’Before his death Wednesday from complications from leukemia, Charlie Murphy left the world some wise words.

“One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible,” the comedian tweeted Tuesday night.

Murphy, best known for his legendary “Chappelle’s Show” sketches about bizarre encounters with stars including Prince and Rick James, often used Twitter to share personal and inspirational thoughts.

In the days before his passing, Murphy also reminded fans to “Rise & Grind: Wake up with the rising sun and seize the day.” Three days ago, he quoted Rocky Balboa: “Every champion was once a contender who refused to give up.”

Murphy passed away Wednesday at the age of 57.

Murphy, the older brother of Eddie Murphy, co-wrote some of his more famous sibling’s movies, including “Norbit” and “Vampire in Brooklyn.” But he is best known for his “C! True Hollywood Stories” sketches on Dave Chappelle’s mid-2000s Comedy Central show, where the two of them hilariously reenacted experiences the Murphy brothers had with celebrities. He also wrote the book “The Making of a Standup Guy.”

On April 4, Murphy paid respects to the late Prince, tweeting, “Can’t believe it’s been almost a year!? RIP to the Purple One.”
