Charlie Kaufman’s latest is surreal, indescribable and maybe - just maybe - a horror film

Writer and director Charlie Kaufman's new movie “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” has many trappings of his past movies - it blurs the line between reality and delusion, it deals with fragmented relationships, and it has a cast of A+ talent (Jesse Plemons, Toni Collette, Jessie Buckley, and David Thewlis). It also is being interpreted as a horror film, although Kaufman disputes it being his first. “If it’s a horror movie, it’s not my first one,” Kaufman tells Yahoo Entertainment. “If we would define it as a horror movie, then “Synecdoche [New York]” is a horror movie, “Anomalisa” is a horror movie. Perhaps “Eternal Sunshine [of the Spotless Mind]” is a horror movie.” “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” debuts on Netflix on September 4.
