'Charlie Brown Thanksgiving' won't be on cable. How to watch if you don't have Apple TV

Popcorn, jelly beans and toast for Thanksgiving − like Charlie Brown and the gang, we're here for it.

Millions grew up watching "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" every year on CBS or ABC ... with commercials. But that stopped after 2020, when Apple acquired the rights to the Peanuts holiday specials. Though the holiday classic aired on PBS in 2020 and 2021, Apple TV+ requires a subscription.

The streaming service, however, will allow Peanuts fans and nonsubscribers to watch the special for free during a short window.

"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" will be available on Apple TV+ for free on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19, 2023. So long as you have the Apple TV+ app on a streaming device like Roku or on your iPhone, Android smartphone or tablet, you can sit back and watch Snoopy and Woodstock pop the popcorn for turkey dinner with Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Franklin and the Peanuts gang.

Though "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" will not air on TV, the holiday special is available to buy via Apple or DVD.

Created by Charles M. Schulz, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" premiered in 1973 and aired every year on TV until 2022. Its IMDB bio states: "Peppermint Patty invites everyone to Charlie Brown's for Thanksgiving, even though he's going to see his grandmother; Snoopy decides to cook his own version of a Thanksgiving meal with help from his friends."

Schulz's comic strip Peanuts chronicles the lives of a boy named Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy.
