Charli XCX is really in her nostalgia era. Need proof? Just look to the lyrics of her latest studio album, Brat, on which she sings about Von Dutch trucker hats and updating her MySpace profile. It’s clear the British singer-songwriter looked to Y2K as a source of inspiration when crafting her new release, and now it seems those influences are seeping into her fashion as well.

On Monday, the “360” singer was spotted leaving her hotel in New York City, where she wore an outfit that winked at many trends from the early ’00s, such as bedazzled clothes and chunky statement accessories.

Up top, the pop starlet started with a short sleeve crop top in black, which featured some glittery writing along the chest (and if there’s one thing that screams early 2000s, it’s sparkly, emblazoned clothing—remember Juicy couture sweats?).

Then, Charli kept the look monochromatic by adding a pair of matching slacks, which had creases down the center of the legs. These body-hugging bottoms were cinched with a thick black belt featuring silver studs and an oversize buckle in the front—even more winks to Y2K fashion.

To round out the look, the singer added a few more inky accessories, including pointy pumps, a shoulder bag, and giant trapezoidal sunglasses. The only pop of color was seen in Charli’s hand, where she carried a toxic green baseball cap. Fans might recognize that this is the same color as the singer’s new album cover, but to really send home the message, the cap was also printed with the LP’s title: “Brat.”
