Charles Melton's Dating History: From Camila Mendes to Chloe Bennet

Charles Melton has dated a handful of leading ladies since stepping into the spotlight

Charles Melton is no stranger to dating in the public eye.

The Riverdale alum is quickly gaining attention as a leading man for his breakout role in May December, but he has also been linked to some famous leading ladies offscreen.

Most notably, The Sun Is Also a Star actor was in an off-and-on-again relationship with his Riverdale costar Camila Mendes, who also played his love interest on the CW series.

The couple dated for a year before parting ways in December 2019. Though they sparked reconciliation rumors in June 2021, Mendes has since moved on with her Música costar Rudy Mancuso.

Though Melton doesn't often speak about his partners, he has gone on the record to say that he loves love itself.

“I think in society we have these [convictions] about what a relationship is supposed to be like – you’re supposed to do this on the first date, this on the second date, this on the third date – but it’s the passion and the love that matters and that allows you to be whoever you want,” Melton previously told Hunger Magazine. “Life’s too short to not be a hopeless romantic. If you can believe in anything right now, believe in love.”

Camila Mendes

After meeting on the set of Riverdale season 2, when Melton took over the role of Reggie from Ross Butler, the onscreen couple began dating in real life. In October 2018, Mendes confirmed their romance on Instagram, sharing a photo of Melton kissing her on the forehead with the caption, “Mine.”

That December, the two made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2018 GQ Men of the Year Party before attending the 2019 Met Gala as each other’s dates. Mendes was also by Melton’s side at the premiere of his romance film, The Sun Is Also A Star, where they posed for photos together.

At the premiere, Mendes gushed about her boyfriend, revealing that Melton is just as swoon-worthy in real life. “He does [write me love letters]. He’s a hopeless romantic, for sure,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

The couple eventually celebrated their one-year anniversary in August 2019, with Mendes marking the milestone on Instagram. “365 days. i love you,” Mendes captioned a photo of them, which showed the Riverdale stars kissing on a boat with a stunning view of the sun setting above water behind them.

In December 2019, E! News reported that the couple was taking a break. Though they sparked reconciliation rumors in June 2021, their relationship fizzled out shortly after. Mendes has since moved on with her Música costar Rudy Mancuso.

Chase Sui Wonders

Before her whirlwind romance with Pete Davidson, Chase Sui Wonders was previously linked to Melton. The couple first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted together in March 2022.

While they kept a relatively low profile in the months that followed, they confirmed their relationship on Instagram in July 2022; Melton shared a photo of the two leaning into each other while sporting matching Brooklyn Cyclones hats at a baseball game. Later that month, Melton supported Wonders at a screening of her movie Bodies Bodies Bodies, which also starred Davidson.

Melton and Wonders eventually sparked breakup rumors when the actress was spotted attending a New York Rangers game with Davidson, alongside their castmate Rachel Sennott.

Chloe Bennet

In May 2023, Melton was linked to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actress Chloe Bennet after he was seen walking with his arm around her in Beverly Hills. At the time, a source told PEOPLE the couple had “been quietly dating for a few months."

That August, the couple was seen attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Inglewood, Calif. However, their relationship appeared to end shortly thereafter; most recently, Bennet was seen showing PDA with The 1975 bassist Ross MacDonald in November 2023.
