Channel Your Inner Captain Kirk With Real 'Star Trek' Communicator

While we’re waiting for Tesla magnate Elon Musk to get his Hyperloop working, bringing us one step closer to Star Trek-style transport, we’ll have to settle for another Enterprise-worthy device: A working communicator.

Certain to stand out among the galaxy of geek-ready gizmos and playthings at San Diego Comic-Con is this functioning communicator modeled after the Federation gadget issued to Kirk, Spock, McCoy, et al.

We're not sure it can hail a starship, but the aluminum communicator, designed by the Wand Company from an actual prop and to be displayed at the ThinkGeek booth, can receive calls from Bluetooth phones and also function as a speaker to stream music. The retro-chic device includes a hard case and stand and will be available for pre-order at StarTrek.com.

Your move, Musk.
