Chanel Iman Marries NFL Star Davon Godchaux: 'A Moment We Both Been Waiting For'

The model and the athlete, who got engaged in May 2023, welcomed a daughter together in September 2023

Chanel Iman and Davon Godchaux are married!

The model, 33, and the New England Patriots defensive tackle, 29, have tied the knot. They shared the happy news on Tuesday via a joint Instagram post which featured video highlights of their glamorous nuptials.

"A moment we both been waiting for," they captioned the post.

Iman and Godchaux also shared details of their special day with Vogue, telling the magazine that they officially married in a civil ceremony in New York on Jan. 10 before eloping on a yacht in the Caribbean Sea on Feb. 24.

"This was our ideal, dream day. A handful of people attended the wedding — including my best friend and soul sister, Heidy De la Rosa — and we chartered a yacht to sail from island to island in the Caribbean Sea," Iman said.

She chose a Zuhair Murad gown detailed with off-the-shoulder straps, an embellished bodice and a tulle skirt. “I am so thankful to his team for making it happen for me,” she told Vogue of the Lebanese designer, whose work she has long admired. “Season after season, I lust over his gowns.”

After the ceremony in Anguilla, the newlyweds and their small circle of guests disembarked to do a little island shopping.

“There were a lot of emotions on the day of the wedding,” Iman recalled. “We laughed, we cried, we danced — and made incredible memories together. The trip actually moved us and inspired us to do this annually with our family.”

The group then sailed to St. Barths, where they spent the night dancing. “We celebrated for three days on our charter — island hopping and making stops at beach clubs, where it all started,” Iman told Vogue.

The wedding-at-sea festivities capped off with a honeymoon at Cap Juluca.

The couple — who made their relationship Instagram official in April 2022 — announced their engagement in May 2023 in a joint Instagram post that featured photos from the romantic proposal. The athlete popped the question during a trip to Capri, Italy, getting down on one knee with a sweeping sea view as the backdrop.

He presented Iman with a dazzling engagement ring featuring a rectangular diamond on a single band, which she showed off in the photos.

"The blessings keep pouring, grateful for this new chapter and soon to be married and a forever to go ♾️📍Capri , Italy 🇮🇹 💍💎," the pair captioned the post.

In a follow-up Instagram post reflecting on the happy moment, Godchaux admitted that he was "nervous as hell" leading up to the proposal.

"I never thought I’ll be getting down on one knee but LOVE will make you do some amazing things in life!" he wrote to his followers before paying tribute to Iman.

"Chanel, I love you so much and I wouldn’t have rather spend this moment with no one else by my side!" he continued. "From the moment we met, I knew it was something about you and how much you value having a FAMILY that was really important to me! We are in this together and will always be, I love you from the bottom of my heart! My love, My fiancé, My everything!! Soon to be my wife!"

The couple's engagement came weeks after they announced some other big news: they had a baby on the way. In an Instagram post on May 3, 2023, Iman and Godchaux revealed that she was pregnant with their first child together.

"Our family is growing and we are so excited to meet our new little one 👼🏽," they wrote at the time, alongside photos from a maternity shoot.

Weeks later, Iman shared a video showing the moment she learned the baby's sex. "Ahh! It's a girl!" she exclaimed as she popped a pink confetti cannon.

The baby, who they fittingly named Capri Summer Godchaux, made her arrival on Sept. 19, 2023. She joined big sisters Callie, 5, and Cassie, 4 — whom Iman shares with her ex Sterling Shepard, and brother Davon — Godchaux's 8-year-old son from a previous relationship.

The family of six posed for a festive portrait for Christmas, with the girls wearing coordinating red plaid outfits and their brother complementing them in a red sweater. Iman also posted a photo with her three daughters, calling her family "The best gift of all."
