Chance the Rapper Insists He’s No Trump Fan: ‘I’d Never Support… Hatred, Racism’
After getting some unexpected praise from President Donald Trump, Chance the Rapper responded in a pair of tweets on Friday morning, stating that he’d “never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination.”
The Chicago rapper was reacting to Trump’s praise of Kanye West, in which POTUS also gave props to Chance.
“Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community – Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades – Legacy Stuff! Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history),” tweeted Trump.

Chance the Rapper followed up a tweet, in which he said “Nah that aint it yo,” with a much longer statement, which included: “I’d never support someone who’d talk about Chicago as if it’s hell on earth and then take steps to make life harder here for the most disenfranchised among us.”
He also clarified a tweet he fired off on Thursday, which said that “Black people don’t have to be Democrats,” and some took as support for Trump and Republicans. “My statement about black folk not having to be democrats (though true) was a deflection from the real conversation and stemmed from a personal issue with the fact that Chicago has had generations of democratic officials with no investment or regard for black schools, neighborhoods or black lives.”

Chance also characterized himself as being at odds with West’s support of Trump, since he regards the elder rapper as “family” and wanted to avoid publicly attacking him.
